Phoenix Model Developments make authentic and very detailed white metal kits. They are easily assembled using quick setting epoxy cement and can be beautifully finished with enamel paints to produce very realistic 1/12 scale replicas. The kits are illustrated in a plain, assembled undercoated finish to show the high degree of detail.
Phoenix suggest that some useful tools to complete these kits would be:
- a small "half-round" needle file and a craft knife, for cleaning off moulding marks etc before assembly
- quick setting ("5-minute") expoxy cement for glueing parts together
- a small building board or suitable hard surface
- a small quantity of plasticine or blu-tak to hold parts temporarily in the correct position until the cement has set
- good quality enamel model-paints, thinners and brushes to finish off your models.
